Graduations No More
So graduation is finally upon us here, and I after the better half of a decade will finally complete my bachelor's of science in physical education. While this should seem like a great moment of triumph it has a dark shadow lingering over it. While other departments like business, nursing, and agriculture will have graduation ceremonies my department has elected not to have a graduation. This means that our graduates may only attend the main graduation ceremony where we are purely acknowledged as a group of students with the college of health sciences. There will be no individual calling of our names, no presentations from professors or people who actually influenced our academic careers, no speeches from any peers we actually went through classes with. This was a major blow to me as this moment was to be my ultimate victory over the S.O.B. who carjacked me, I was looking forward to the moment my name would be called in recognition of my hard work to overcome and endure through difficult times but I am also being robbed of that, not by a thuggish coward but by an "academic" institution that never thinks about the best interests of the students. Our department wasn't even planning this graduation, it was up to our student club to do all the leg work and yet in the end the department squashed the hard work of those who organized a graduation for us. In the end I will be getting my degree in Kinesiology with the Physical Education option and I will have my victory, but today I had to let a dream die.

Updates
So I know it's been awhile since my daily fitness post but I have been keeping up running about 2 miles every other day. I've just had a busy week with my online midterm, a midterm today, and a group presentation today and tomorrow. Friday morning I will be helping run a Frisbee Golf Tournament at Woodward Park. I can't wait for Spring Break. Oh yeah I also have a take home midterm this week as well. Can't teachers schedule this stuff a little better?

Last run for 2 days
So today I did a light run as I have to be in a wheel chair for the next 36 hours as part of a class project. I can only leave the wheel chair in order to go to work. Today was exciting though, I ran just for 1 mile but I ran it in 6 minutes and 45 seconds. It's exciting because I'm running faster than I did in high school, I'm only 25 seconds away from my all time personal best of a 6 minute 20 second mile.

Fitness Blog
So this site now is becoming my running journal. Today I ran the 1.9 mile route without any break or walking period. The first mile I ran in 6 minutes 55 seconds and I finished the last 9 tenths of a mile a little bit slower, the entire run last 14 minutes 35 seconds. Since I began running I've put on 5 pounds but it appears to be mostly muscle probably due to my heart rate being at about 85% of max.

Up and Running Again
So I started running this week. So far I've done three days.
Sunday I ran/walked about 5 miles.
Tuesday I ran 1.9 miles in about 18 minutes, the first mile was a sub 7:30 mile though!!! I couldn't run the whole distance I had to walk about 5 minutes after the first mile.
Today I ran 1.9 miles in 15 minutes and only had to walk for 3 minutes. The first mile was about 7 minutes, and I had to start walking about 11 minutes in(partially due to a car turning into the neighborhood, it killed my mojo) in at about 1.6 miles.
I've been using my heart rate monitor and it's been really beneficial to my training though I do go past the 85 percent mark. I had an average heart rate of 157 today.
I have noticed already that I have more energy and my leg muscles are restoring to their former glory quickly ;)
